Follow the steps below in order to complete the manual update process. If the above steps do not update the definitions a manual update is required in order to clear the possible corrupt definitions out of the MailEssentials directories.
Verify that the definitions successfully installed on the Update status section. Click Download Updates and click Apply. Open MailEssentials Configuration and navigateto Email Security > Virus Scanning Engines > McAfee. Open Services.msc and restart the GFI MailEssentials AV Scan Engine and GFI MailEssentials Autoupdater services. 
Navigate to the following directory \GFI\MailEssentials\Updater\nai and delete the following files. There are two ways to initiate the update. To continue receiving definitions please upgrade to the latest supported version of Endpoint Protection.An antivirus engine definition has become corrupt and cannot be initialized or successfully complete Auto-Updates. Q: My 12.1.x SEPM and/or clients don't have the last set of definitions listed above, how can I update them to the date(s) listed above?Ī: Endpoint Protection 12.1.x is End of Life and no longer supported. Q: Are JDB or Intelligent Updater packages for 12.1.x still available on the Virus Definitions & Security Updates page? Q: Can a 12.1.x Endpoint Agent update definitions from LiveUpdate, LiveUpdate Administrator, Group Update Provider, Intelligent Updater, or any other method past the dates mentioned above? Q: Can a 12.1.x SEPM download and provide content to 12.1.x clients past the dates mentioned above? Q: Can a 14.x Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM) download and provide content to 12.1.x clients past the dates mentioned above? Below are dates when the last SEP 12.1.x definitions were available for download.
